Can I apply for an EU Blue Card?
You can apply for an EU Blue Card if you meet the following requirements:
- You have a valid employment contract (for at least one year) for highly qualified employment
- Can prove that you meet the minimum salary threshold in the Member State concerned

- Can provide a valid passport, visa application form, and a valid residence permit

Who can’t apply for an EU Blue Card?
You cannot apply for an EU Blue Card if you are or have:
- Applied for refugee status or temporary protection
- A third-country national with a residence permit for research
- An EC permanent residence permit that certifies long term residence status granted by a Member State of the European Union
- A residence permit for seasonal employment
Do I have to earn a certain income to apply for the residence card?
Yes, you have to earn an annual salary that is equal to or higher than the salary threshold set out by the Member State. For example, in 2016, the minimum salary threshold in Hungary was 4 158 000 HUF.
