Different visa options for Hungary
Residence Permit for Paid Activity
This is one of the first visa options for Hungary that might come to mind for individuals looking to live and work in Hungary. To apply for this visa, you will need a work permit, an employment contract, documents proving occupancy in Hungary, and bank statements indicating you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Hungary. The fee for a residence permit is EUR 60, and the application process takes roughly 30 days to be completed.
Seasonal Employment Visa
With a work permit and seasonal work visa in hand, you can take a seasonal Hungarian job in the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, or fishing industry. With this visa, you are granted single or multiple entries to the country. When you apply for and obtain this visa, you are entitled to work for at least three months but no more than six months. These visas are only valid for a period of one year. Individuals that apply for seasonal employment visas must have valid passports, documentation that certifies their purpose of entry and stay, and proof of the financial means to sustain them while in the country.
Residence Permit for the Purpose of Employment or Other Gainful Activities
With this visa option for Hungary, you are allowed to work for yourself or for a Hungarian country, but only if you have a permit to work in Hungary. You are entitled to live and work in Hungary for more than 90 days but no more than 180 days with this visa, given the fact that you are employed by a Hungarian employer or work as a self-employed individual.
EU Blue Card
Third country nationals can apply for the EU Blue Card if they have residence permits for work that requires advanced skills by member countries of the European Union. You will have to prove that you have legally been staying in an EU member country for at least 18 months when applying for the EU Blue Card. You will also need a valid passport, certified documents stating the reason for your entries or exits, proof that you have full coverage on health insurance, and have valid proof of accommodation in Hungary. Once you are in possession of the EU Blue Card, it is valid for a period of a year. Renewal is possible, after which the card is valid for a maximum period of 4 years.
Schengen Business Visa
If you are a non-European citizen and wish to travel to a Schengen area for a short time for business purposes, you might qualify for this visa. With this visa in hand, you are permitted to stay in Hungary for a maximum of 90 days over a period of 6 months.
